How did you find out about Drizzt? Any interesting stories?

Here’s my not-so-interesting story. Around 1994 my grandma bought a couple fantasy books as presents. “Azure Bonds” and “The Crystal Shard.” I read and fell in love with both. But both were first printings, so I didn’t know either had sequels. Then in 1999 I was with at a friend’s house and noticed “The Crystal Shard” on a shelf. He told me about the Icewind Dale trilogy and let me borrow the books. I’ve since bought atleast one copy of each book since.

I first read legacy and then half of starless night. My friend Amy said I should go back and read icewindale and the dark elf trilogy. The thing that grabbed me about the series was the philosophy behind the actions and with in the words. At the time I read dark elf trilogy I was going through a rough time and I felt trapped in a world were I was alone and people were corrupt. I dreamt a lot during the time I read, of being trapped underground. Drizzt helped me see that there is a world above, That I needed the courage to make the change I wanted to see. I also liked all the drow words, I always imagine drow like german for some reason. Ice windale taught me to accept myself even if others did not. at one point at the end of halflings gem, Drizzt sat at a banquit for regis and everyone was uncomfortable around a drow. That was their problem. Drizzt taught me never judge yourself on the judgements of others. Drizzt is my hero, he honestly helped me change my life.

wow, my story isn’t as interesting as that but here it goes.
We had to do a book report, on a book of our choosing, for school and this girl in my class did her on Homeland. she sits next to me and lent the book to me. I was hooked after the first page! I felt like I could identify with some of what Drizzt was going through, I myself have never fit in and I’ve always had the sensation that I was born into the wrong world. The characters are so real and the book is so well written, I can picture everything so clearly. Now this is going to sound stupid but, when drizzt and Zak are fighting an Drizzt Finds out that Zak is his father, Icried, I NEVER cry but the book just has this way of making you understand every emotion and trully feel for these characters.

Well, this certaintly isn’t as good as your guys’s but here it is. When i was in grade eight, my friend and i had to do book reports, and he was reading homeland also. He always goofed off, and throughout the entire book, he was always asking me to pronounce it for me, and then tell me ” no, it’s like this…” he’d call Drizzt “Drizz” without the t, and he thought drow was like drown, with an n. but anyways, he asked me about ” svirfneblin” and i was like, what? What a dumb book! hey…. keep reading. So, he eventually moved away, and we got completely split up, and while he was gone, i developed a strong strong love fo the middle ages and especially fantasy, so i bought the thousand orcs not even recognizing drizzt (because the memory was so long ago. ) Then, when i read the book, i was like OMG. so i started buying the books from the start ( homeland and so on) and i have fell in love with drzzt and the entire trilogies. Then, my friend moved back! ver since, we have been sharing storie about drizzt almost everyday, and we both share the same love and NEED for drizzt. He is always close to both of us, and has taught us so much. now i must start funding into the hardback copy of the orc king. please no one spoil it! i havnt read it at all yet. anyways thats my story, you guys should post some more.

Well, this certainly ain’t half as Mithcell’s story but you asked for more.
This happened about 2 months ago, I’m kinda new in Drizzt world, and i haven’t yet red all the books(only 10 so far). When i was coming home from school, in the bus i met one of my friends who was reading a book, you guessed it was one of the Drizzt books, and of boredom i sat next to him and began to read, i read about 2 pages and i didn’t understood too much i didn’t even knew what drow ment, but i was kinda bored those days and i always wanted to improve my english and i always loved fantasy and sci fi so i downloaded the audiobooks from the internet and synchronized them on my new ipod, and listened carefully anytime anywhere i was able, soon i was caught deep into the books and as you guys began to improve myself to find my true self and my true place in the world with the help of Drizzt, but i must confess i never ever no matter how much i loved a movie or a book or an anime cryed and i think i will never do it also.
So what you think guys am i worthy to join your drizzt fan club?:D
